Five ways kids can benefit from being outside this summer break
School Holidays have begun and I’m sure parents are starting to already think of what they can do next to entertain their children without going too far from home and without expense which usually mean children stay inside, have more screen time and forget about their outdoor environment. Its not like when we were kids and as children we played outside all the time, building cubby’s, playing in water and mud and enjoying nature daily.
The current generation not only spends more time inside but research has shown that the majority of children spend more than the recommended maximum of two hours per day involved in “screen time”. In a 2009 study, researchers found that over half of the Australian children studied between the ages of ten to 12 spent less than 1 hour outside each day. Being outside has some wonderful benefits for children. 5 ways children can benefit from outdoor time are:
