Family Day Care for 2 Year Olds
Family Day Care for 2-Year-Olds, it’s Time for a Little More Structure
At around 2 years old, our Family Day Care routine begins to follow a more established schedule. They learn to co-operate and play together with blocks, puzzles, books, and drawing. They start taking turns and sharing toys. It’s now that children sit at tables to eat together. Teachers are the role models who correct behaviours and encourage the use of manners and correct social skills at the table. In addition, independence and choice are encouraged.
Learning through Language
At 2 years old, children are introduced to family day care group sessions. This is where they experience language extension through music, dance and singing. Children will learn further about concepts such as the Alphabet, shapes and colour recognition through many varied activities.
Planned Play and Arts and Crafts
Children apply new theories in their learning through art and craft and through carefully planned play experiences where our skilled family day care teachers can lead them into new discoveries. At 2 years old, children play well with play-dough and drawing activities – promoting fine motor skills and manipulative skills, painting activities to express creativity, block play to develop co-operation and sharing skills and dramatic play such as the dolls and dress ups to encourage language and social skills.
