Early Learning Matters: The Benefits of Early Childhood Education

Early learning matters because it is the ultimate investment to a child’s future wellbeing and success by providing the best possible start.

The first five years of a child’s life matters. Did you know that 90% of a child’s brain develops by age five? Research has shown that a child’s experiences in these early years directly affects how their brain develops, with long-term impact on their health and ability to learn in school.

Quality early childhood education and care such as Bumblebee helps children develop their early learning such as confidence, problem solving, communication, self-help skills, good eating habits, positive attitude towards exercise and self-care and instils a sense of belonging.

Early Learning

Early learning matters because it is the ultimate investment to a child’s future wellbeing and success by providing the best possible start.

Organised early childhood education programs such as our program we have at Bumblebee assist in the development of children’s cognitive abilities such as literacy and numeracy as well as social and emotional skills, all which are vital in preparing them for school and later, adult life.

At Bumblebee the children engage in early learning experiences learning through play. For example in the Prep room the children are involved in developing their hypothesising skills and experimenting through play on what objects will sink or float.

The children are developing these skills through a fun engaging experience. This experience came from a child interest and was turned into an intentional teaching lesson for all the children which they really enjoyed.

In early childhood education, children are encouraged to share and play with their peers. Through these interactions they learn to develop important interpersonal qualities such as empathy and cooperation which will help them get along with others in preschool and beyond and for many children, participating in early childhood education is the first significant amount of time they spend away from their family.
Being in a new environment, away from home, can help children to build their confidence and discover their identity.
